Dear Galina,
Thanks to your kind arrangements for my stay in Novocherkassk and Rostov-na-Donu, I enjoyed my trip to this area to learn about the history of Don Cossaks.
In Novocherkassk I was surprised unexpectedly to find the statue of ERMARK in the square in front of the Great Sacred Cathedral. In thinking of the historical development of the Russian territory to the east beyond the Ural, he could be in some point of view called as “Columbus in Russia”.
In Starocherkassk I was impressed by the museum, former residence of the Ataman, and the near-by.
On July 16th I returned home in Japan. Thank you again for all that you did for me.
