Jennie Sochon
Hello Elena, I am a slow correspondent. So glad you wrote. i think about our trip every day.
I’ve looked at the pictures so many times, and they don’t do justice to the beauty. The most memorable things were the feather grass, the sand forest and Rostov. I would love to come back to Rostov just because it it so beautiful and elegant The architecture and the parks were much more beautiful than I expected. I had in my mind that everything would be newer because of war damage. How delightful it was to see classic 19th century style. This was my first trip overseas and it was really wonderful. We never had a bad meal the weather was perfect and the people we so nice. The only disappointment was that we didn’t get to find any of my family’s places. I’m so grateful that you contacted the Rostov archives for us. We were out that day and didn’t get back to the hotel until 7 p.m. Thank you for leaving the pictures of the old Catholic church. Do you think I could contact the archives by email? I’m sure someone there would read English. I don’t have Russian characters on my keyboard, so I’m not sure how that could be done. Sochi was lovely. Once again, there was a lot of stately architecture and so many beautiful flowers and plants. They didn’t have any museums, which was a little disappointing. We went to the botanical garden which had a little zoo. It was very cute. I fed bread to some friendly geese. All the hotel people, restaurant people and shop people were very nice. It was truly the vacation of a lifetime for me. Hope you are well, tell Uri hello. Fondly,
Jennie Florida, USA
